En una viñeta del humorista gráfico Jules Feiffer un hombre dice: “Siempre pensé que era pobre. Pero un día me dijeron que no era pobre sino ‘necesitado’. Más tarde supe que era contraproducente pensar en mí mismo como necesitado: en realidad era ‘desfavorecido’. Luego escuché el término ‘desafortunado’ pero ya estaba en desuso: hoy soy ‘desaventajado’. Sigo sin tener un centavo; pero he ganado un gran vocabulario“.

Aun siendo broma, o precisamente por ello, el chiste de Feiffer ilustra a la perfección la manipulación del lenguaje por parte de la Corrección Política y, también, su absoluta inutilidad para resolver los problemas que dice afrontar. Nos encontramos ante una ideología con una imperiosa necesidad de cambiar constantemente las palabras, de retorcer los vocablos en una alocada carrera que, pasado un tiempo, deja obsoleto cualquier término que antaño gozara de brillo y esplendor.

La sustitución constante de una palabra por otra genera una fuerte deriva hacia la degradación del lenguaje porque los nuevos vocablos son cada vez más ambiguos, más absurdos, con significados cada vez más apartados de una realidad que, en teoría, se pretende describir y enderezar. Llamarse “desaventajado”, en lugar de pobre, no resuelve la falta de recursos materiales; tan solo oscurece la naturaleza del problema.

Vor einiger Zeit schickte die Deutsche Welle einen ihrer Arabisch sprechenden Reporter nach Amman, damit er dort junge Männer fragt, was sie machen würden, wenn sich ihre Schwestern entschieden, arbeiten zu gehen. Die Umfrage war bestimmt nicht repräsentativ, aber doch charakteristisch für das in arabischen Familien gelebte Verständnis von der Rolle und den Aufgaben einer Frau. Worauf die DW eine Rechtfertigung hinterher schickte:

"With this video, we do not intend on generalizing Jordanian men. We want to open a discussion about rights that are under attack – in Jordan as well as in Germany or the US: women's rights. We chose Jordan for this story because it ranks 135th out 144 countries in the Global Gender Gap Report 2017 by the World Economic Forum. This video isn't about singling out a religion, a country or men – it's about starting a constructive debate".

Wenn es aber darum ging, eine konstruktive Debatte anzustoßen, warum wurde der Reporter nach Amman geschickt, und nicht nach Darmstadt, Dover oder Detroit, wo er bestimmt die gleichen Ansichten gehört hätte wie in Amman. Männer sind Männer, und beinah jeder hat eine Schwester.
