DevOps is Ops with new tools. I went to DevOpsDays thinking DevOps means developers and operations merged into one team. I was wrong.
I did not meet or hear from any developers. It was a gathering of system administrators who use version control, and write a lot of YAML. Programming languages were not a topic; I heard Python mentioned once in passing, that’s it.
A wonderfully analyzed and detailed guide to dimensioning an ELK cluster.
we are moving away from thinking that ‘DevOps is the answer’ and towards ‘implementing the right kind of DevOps processes, with the right tools, to deliver higher levels of value’. Whether about principles or tooling, value stream management can therefore be filed in the category of concepts that, when they are working right, they cease to exist. Perhaps this will become true in the future but right now, we are a long way from that point.
